About Aaron Li
I am Aaron Li, a lawyer licensed to practise in China, based in Jinan, Shandong — one of the country's main manufacturing provinces. I act for overseas buyers: the companies paying Chinese suppliers, not the suppliers themselves.
My work sits at the four points where a China purchase most often goes wrong: verifying a supplier before a deposit is paid, reviewing the contract before it is signed, pursuing a supplier when delivery fails, and handling the legal work of operating in China afterwards. Each engagement is scoped and priced before it starts, so the cost of the first stage is known before you commit to it.
You work with me directly. There is no account manager between you and the file, and no local legal department is needed on your side. I work in English, and the same person you first speak to handles the correspondence, drafting and negotiation with the Chinese side.
Being in the supplier's jurisdiction changes what can actually be checked: company registration and litigation records can be pulled from Chinese public sources, a supplier can be written to and negotiated with in Chinese, and a claim can be brought before the Chinese courts and taken through enforcement where the facts and the defendant support it. Where a matter is not worth the cost, I say so at the review stage rather than after a retainer is signed.
