Article 270. Civil litigation involving foreign parties that is conducted within the territory of the People's Republic of China shall be governed by the provisions of this Part. Where there are no provisions in this Part, other relevant provisions of this Law shall apply.

Article 271. If an international treaty concluded or acceded to by the People's Republic of China contains provisions differing from those in this Law, the provisions of the international treaty shall apply, except for the provisions for which reservations have been made by the People's Republic of China.

Article 272. Civil litigation brought against foreigners, foreign organizations, or international organizations that enjoy diplomatic privileges and immunities shall be handled in accordance with the relevant laws of the People's Republic of China and the provisions of international treaties concluded or acceded to by the People's Republic of China.

Article 273. The people's courts shall conduct civil cases involving foreign parties in the language and script commonly used in the People's Republic of China. If a party requests translation, it may be provided, with the costs to be borne by the party.

Article 274. Foreigners, stateless persons, and foreign enterprises and organizations who institute or respond to legal proceedings in the people's courts and need to appoint a lawyer to represent them in litigation must appoint a lawyer of the People's Republic of China.

Article 275. A power of attorney sent or entrusted from outside the territory of the People's Republic of China by a foreigner, stateless person, or foreign enterprise or organization that has no domicile within the territory of the People's Republic of China to appoint a lawyer of the People's Republic of China or any other person to represent them in litigation shall only be effective after it has been certified by a notary public of the country of domicile and authenticated by the embassy or consulate of the People's Republic of China in that country, or after the completion of the certification procedures stipulated in the relevant treaty concluded between the People's Republic of China and that country.
